Muscles Used


  • Hold your trunk tight and keep your back straight
  • Grasp the bar slightly wider than shoulder width
  • Use an overhand or mixed grip
  • Keep your legs straight
  • Lift the bar by almost fully extending your hips and straightening your body so you are fully upright
  • Pull shoulders back at the peak of the lift
  • Lower the bar to the start position

  • Erector spinae
  • Adductor magnus
  • Biceps femoris
  • Semitendinosus
  • Semimembranosus
